One of my first days in Vietnam when I was walking around District 1 in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC as us locals refer to it), a cab driver was sitting on a corner and called out “Hello, miss, may I have you?”. I LOLed and began practicing the skill of smiling respectfully with a stern head shake that was both polite and direct at the same time.
Although this interaction happened at the start of my overwhelming introduction to Vietnam, I couldn’t get it out of my head. Clearly the message got across, but the double meaning was striking and humorous. And I didn’t have anyone to share it with!
This brings me to why I created this site. Throughout my first 6 weeks in Vietnam (!!), I have been thinking of ways to share my experiences with people who have an interest. I have a love/ hate relationship with social media so I was trying to brainstorm ideas beyond posting pretty pictures on Instagram. I want to share pictures, create videos, and express thoughts all in one convenient place that my grandma can easily access.
Here goes nothing!
